Americas Self Image

Page history last edited by Janet 1 yr ago

evaluation form.docWorking with others on your project team (most likely a subset of the "medium group," if there are several different projects being created in this medium"), you will create a Production Schedule for your project.

Meghan Ida and Janet Boyle

Steps:

Find at least one internet source that discusses production in the medium (e.g., "blog production," or "web production"). Post the link on your wiki page and label it accordingly.

Using the information from this source, along with the criteria from your rubric, create a list (on your wiki page) of everything you will have to do in order to achieve an "A" on the project.

Achieving an "A" Requires:

1. Research more internet sources about Self Image.

2. Do peer evaluations weekly

3. Illicit the appropriate emotional response from the audience's feedback

4. Publicize our imovie on Ophelia's Place website

5. Create a clear picture that has a steady framework and isn't "shaky" or uncomfortable to watch

6. Use Garage Band to create a music score to incorporate in our imovie

7. Meet with technician and learn the proper training skills to use imovie properly

Agree upon what a midterm "draft" of the project will be (ie., what the project will look like when it is halfway finished) and get my approval on this. If you are working with any form of digital storytelling (video production or podcasting), plan to be finished with shooting and/or recording by this date (i.e., by midterm, you should have all the raw footage of your piece completed and have only editing and post-production left to do).

Plan to have that "draft" completed by the beginning of class on April 21.

This week you will also plan to meet with the technology trainer to follow up on the project, anticipate next steps, and possibly revise your plans.

Assign tasks to particular people in the group in order to meet that April 21 deadline. Make sure that the workload is evenly distributed amongst all group members.

Using your list from #2, figure out what tasks remain after April 21 to complete the project at the "A" level by May 5. Assign tasks to individuals, using the same principles you used for #5. (If you are doing a video or a podcast, you will publish your piece to the appropriate web community ON MAY 5 -- or as shortly thereafter as possible --, but ALL production will be complete by this date.

We plan on collecting all of our data and have an unedited version of our imovie by April 21st also hopefully incorporating a music score as well.

Revise your Project Proposal accordingly and plan to submit a final version of it on the wiki, along with your group's Production Schedule

TO DO LIST (See #2 above)

1. Finish project proposal

2. Do peer evaluations

3. Research more internet sources about self image

4. Make a schedule

5. Put together a montage of self image clips

6. Possibly incorporate interviews of Cortland students and what they think about their countries take on Self Image

7. Create music on Garage Band

8. Edit footage of interviews and compile montage clips

9. Possibly publish our imovie on the Ophelia's Place website

OUR PROJECT PROPOSAL:

MIDTERM DRAFT:

-Within the next week we will have completed the power-point layout plan which will provide a story board outline for our project. Within this story-board we will include our objective and the focus of the iMovie we create. By discovering the specific message we want to express, we will also discover our audience. We do have a place of publication in mind, by way of Meghan's sorority, therefore we will have to move around that destination. Our source in mind is a website and organization called "Ophelia's Place" stationed in Syracuse which advocates woman's mental health and a campaign for eating disorders. In the next few weeks, we will communicate with Ophelia's place in order to see if they would be willing to accept our iMovie for publication through the organization. Our focus is headed toward creating a montage of pictures with texts and music associated with female body image in the media. At a very young age in American society, young girls develop a distorted image of what is beauty, neglecting the important aspect of both physical and mental health. Our iMovie will display images that provide a distinction between healthy and unhealthy women. By drawing a comparison between the two, our audience will recognize that the healthier images of women are not seen as beautiful in the media. After the comparing images we will attempt to provide the consequences many women suffer under when having a skewed image about beauty. We hope to leave our audience feeling differently about his or own self worth, and to encourage each individual to diregard our media's destructive pattern of misrepresenting beauty.
